Primary Purpose:Repairs, and maintains mechanical/electronic door hardware (locks, panic devices, closures) and manages high-security keying systems. Troubleshoot card-swipe stations, access control boards, while maintaining district-wide security databases. This role ensures all facilities meet safety standards and require strong knowledge of fire codes and locksmith tools. Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDClear and valid Texas driver’s license Special Knowledge/Skills:Proficiency with hand tools, key-cutting machines, and computer based access control systems.Strong understanding of door hardware, master key systems, and electrical components.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.Ability to work independently.Ability to respond after hours when needed.Ability to work well and in a positive manner with staff, students, and public. Experience:3 years of locksmithing experience, preferably in a commercial or educational setting. Major Responsibilities and Duties:1. Access Control Systems: Install and maintain electronic locks, maglocks, card readers, scramble pads, and electrified panic devices.2. Mechanical Security: Repair/replace door hardware, including closers, hinges, and deadbolts.3. Key Control & Security: Produce keys, rekey cylinders, and manage the master key system, maintaining strict confidentiality in a confidential log.4. Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on doors and security systems, ensuring compliance with fire codes and OSHA safety regulations.5. System Administration: Program security software, manage access databases, and troubleshoot electronic systems.6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inventory, work orders, key issuances, and return tracking.7. Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainagesystems; and replacing broken glass.8. Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.9. Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment.10. Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance supervisor.11. Assist with mowing and detailing of district grounds.12. Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed. 13. Work after hours district events.14. Maintain tools and equipment.15. Maintain consistent punctuality and regular attendance.
