Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Manor ISD is seeking an exceptional and visionary Director of Academics and Multilingual Services to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the district’s academic programs, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, bilingual and ESL services, and accompanying professional development across K–12. The Director will work closely with campus and central office leaders to drive instructional excellence and student achievement through aligned systems, data-driven decision-making, and a relentless focus on continuous improvement utilizing the Texas Effective Schools Framework. .
This leader will report directly to the Chief Schools Officer and play a critical role in advancing equity, rigor, and results across all schools by ensuring cohesive academic programming, language services, and effective teaching and learning practices.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field (required)
- Texas principal or mid-management certification (required); superintendent certification preferred
- Experience:
Minimum 5 years of campus or district-level leadership experience, including experience in school or district turnaround - Campus leadership experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated success improving academic outcomes for diverse student populations
- Proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction, instructional leadership, assessment, and school improvement
- Strong familiarity with the Texas Effective Schools Framework and Get Better Faster framework and rubric
- Skilled in classroom observation, coaching, and delivering effective feedback
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to lead through influence and collaboration

Essential Job Functions:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Provide direction and oversight for all academic services, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, bilingual/ESL programs, and professional learning.
- Lead with a deep understanding of the Texas Effective Schools Framework, ensuring alignment between district priorities and high-leverage practices.
- Partner with campus leaders and central office departments to implement systems of support for continuous improvement and instructional quality.
- Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment:
- Ensure district-wide alignment and coherence of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
- Oversee the development, adoption, and monitoring of high-quality instructional materials and assessments.
- Lead the implementation of a balanced assessment system that informs teaching and supports learning.
- Professional Development:
- Oversee the design and delivery of targeted professional development for teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators.
- Promote and implement Get Better Faster coaching systems, including effective classroom observations and actionable feedback.
- Build and support a culture of coaching and growth, with clear structures for teacher development.
- Program Oversight:
- Direct Bilingual and ESL services to ensure compliance, access, and achievement for emergent bilingual students.
- Collaborate with the Department of Special Education and other student support services to ensure instructional alignment and equity.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with central office leaders, campus staff, and community stakeholders.
- Serve as a thought partner to campus principals, helping them develop and implement instructional priorities and school improvement plans.
- Communicate academic goals and progress clearly and consistently with internal and external audiences.
- Data-Driven Leadership:
- Use data to identify trends, monitor progress, and adjust strategies in real time.
- Drive a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement grounded in student outcomes.
- Support turnaround efforts with a proven focus on results and sustainable improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate academic coordinators, dual-language instructional coaches. Partner with campus leaders in evaluation of instructional coaches
