Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE
 
Provide additional and supplemental content area instruction for at-risk students. To provide opportunities for children to acquire the knowledge and skills to meet the state student performance standards.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education/Certification: 

Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas teaching certificate 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Expert knowledge of classroom management, effective instruction strategies and practice
Ability to demonstrate and develop effective practices for At-Risk Learners
Ability to support programs effectiveness and program compliance
Ability to coordinate between content areas
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Ability to evaluate and enhance delivery of effective instructional practices
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with campus teachers and administrators 

Experience:

3 years experience as a classroom teacher

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 
Instructional and Program Management1. Provide high quality supplemental instruction for identified students in need of additional support.2. Work with special cases whose difficulty or complexity requires a high degree of professional skill and knowledge.3. Provide documentation and ongoing formative assessments of identified students to special programs office.4. Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to student needs and instructional methods and resources.5. Assist classroom teachers in implementing an effective instructional program for At-Risk learners.6. Assist in the evaluation of ongoing practices and make recommendations for change.7. Help teachers diagnose student strengths and weaknesses and to match these skills with appropriate techniques, materials, and/or technology.8. Provide consultation in GIST meetings.9. Attend appropriate professional meetings and workshops to maintain proficiency and to acquire new ideas for instructional improvement.10. Provide high quality supplemental instruction for Title I students. Leadership11. Provide assistance and/or support as needed to students, parents, and community.12. Establish and maintains open lines of communication with parents, students, and teachers.13. Keep school staff informed as to new developments in subject matter areasPolicy, Report, and Law14. Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.15. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.Professional Goals and Growth16. Expands leadership skills and knowledge base through self-initiated professional development activities.Communications and Community Support17. Attend and Participate in district meetings and communicate with campus as appropriate.18. Demonstrate awareness of district community needs and initiates activities to meet needs.
Other19. Responsible for properly maintain district records20. Perform other duties as assigned. These duties must be supplemental to the regular instructional program.21. Convey information to parent and community members about Title I school wide programs.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
