Position is posted for the 2025/2026 School Year Primary Purpose: Protect students and staff; coordinate school safety for assigned campus including protocols, training, and compliance. Organize with the district’s Safety and Security Coordinator regarding safety drills and communications, campus Emergency Operations Plans as well as emergency equipment. Coordinate security needs for the campus’s extracurricular events and assigned evening activities. Maintain a highly visible profile in and around campus throughout the day as needed. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Four-year degree preferred Clear and valid Texas driver’s license Hold and maintain a current License to Carry a Handgun (LTC) Prior law enforcement or military preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with school officials, parents and the community. Ability to assess needs and identify safety and security issues. Ability to coordinate the activities of school and community services. Ability to train staff. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Skill in organizing program evaluation efforts. Ability to organize and maintain emergency equipment and information. Proficient with firearms Experience: Demonstrated experience in research, task planning, setting priorities, meeting timelines, communicating results, and maintaining attention to detail while coordinating multiple projects. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Works in cooperation with staff and first responders to protect students and staff, ensure campus safety, and coordinate an effective emergency response to campus facilities. Attend training in areas of school safety. Conduct campus and community needs/resource assessments and safety audits. Ensure compliance with Senate Bill 11, State safety/security audits and other state or district mandates. Make recommendations regarding the implementation of specifically identified, research-based best practices regarding safety and security. Assist campuses in adopting the most successful strategies to train teachers and staff as well as parents and other relevant partners. Monitor program implementation and make changes as required. Develop and execute evaluation strategies that accurately assess each program and the various components of those programs for evidence of success in reducing drug use and violence while improving school safety and attendance. Provide feedback to teachers, administrators, first responders, parents and other relevant partners within the school community on a regular basis. Student Management: Patrol assigned campus. Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student conduct. Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal. Control student behavior during assigned after-hours extracurricular events.
