4th/5th ELAR/SS Teacher

Job Description

Prairie Lea Independent School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a full-time teacher for 4th and 5th grade English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) and Social Studies. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment, promote student engagement, and develop students’ critical thinking and communication skills. This position requires creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to academic excellence, ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for future success.

Responsibilities
– Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards for ELAR and Social Studies.
– Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
– Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
– Assess and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
– Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
– Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
– Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
– Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting respect and responsibility among students.
– Support school-wide initiatives and participate in extracurricular activities as needed.

Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
– Valid Texas teaching certification in EC-6 or 4-8 Generalist.
– Strong knowledge of ELAR and Social Studies curriculum and instructional practices.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
– Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment.
– Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse classroom.
– Previous teaching experience at the elementary level preferred but not required.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
