Primary Purpose:Provide students with instruction in marketing, entrepreneurship, and business-related courses that prepare them for postsecondary education and careers. Create engaging, real-world learning experiences that develop students’ leadership, communication, critical thinking, and workplace readiness skills. Serve as the campus sponsor for DECA, promoting student participation in competitive events, leadership development, and career exploration opportunities. Education/Certification:Bachelor’s degree or higher from accredited college or university.Valid State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) in Marketing Education Grades 6-12 with approval from Career and Technical Education (CTE), or eligibility to obtain required certification within one year of employment.Experience:Minimum of two years of wage-earning experience in a marketing-related occupation.Experience in business, marketing, sales, advertising, entrepreneurship, customer service, retail management, or related fields preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Knowledge of marketing, entrepreneurship, and business concepts and practices.Knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs and industry standards.Ability to integrate real-world business applications into classroom instruction.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to build partnerships with local businesses, industry professionals, and community organizations.Knowledge of DECA competitive events, leadership activities, and career development programs preferred.Instructional Responsibilities:Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for marketing and business courses.Provide instruction in marketing, entrepreneurship, advertising, sales, business management, and related subject areas.Utilize project-based learning and industry-relevant experiences to enhance student achievement.Assess student performance and provide timely feedback to support growth and success.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, certifications, and performance data. Career and Technical Education Responsibilities:Promote career readiness and employability skills through classroom instruction and work-based learning opportunities.Assist students in developing career pathways and postsecondary plans.Coordinate industry certifications and career preparation activities as applicable.Collaborate with business and industry partners to enhance instructional programs and student opportunities.Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal CTE requirements.DECA Sponsor ResponsibilitiesRecruit, organize, and mentor student members in DECA.Prepare students for district, state, and international DECA competitions.Coordinate chapter meetings, leadership activities, conferences, community service projects, and fundraising efforts.Supervise students during DECA-related activities and travel.Maintain active affiliation and compliance with local, state, and national DECA requirements.
