Job Title: Student Help – Child Nutrition Server

Dept./School: Child Nutrition                     *Special Note: Must be 16 years of age

 

 

Primary Purpose:

Assist the campus/department staff with assigned daily tasks, including serving food.

 

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification

Currently enrolled at Florence ISD

Food Handlers Card, required

 

Knowledge/Skills

Effective communications and interpersonal skills

Ability to use good judgement

Ability to understand written and verbal food preparation and safety instructions

Knowledge of general kitchen equipment

 

Experience

None

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Food Serving

  1. Serve food according to meal schedule, department policies and procedures.
  2. Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.
  3. Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established procedures.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized working area.

 

Safety and Sanitation

  1. Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.
  2. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety.

 

Other

  1. Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.
  2. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
  3. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school are met.
  4. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication.
  5. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
  6. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: kitchen equipment, storage containment

Posture: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting;

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching;

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 45 pounds);

Environment: Mainly inside working environment; some transporting externally

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
