Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Serve as the contact person for international teachers on a J-1 Visa sponsorship. Work closely with the department of Human Capital; the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department; and the visa agencies to ensure a smooth transition into the district and be the primary point of contact for our international teachers.
Qualifications/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of J-1 Visa Sponsorship program
- Familiarity with local housing markets, transportation systems, and government ID card processes
- Strong organizational, communication, relational and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Experience in providing support services to an international or diverse population is preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist international teachers in finding suitable and affordable housing options.
- Collaborate with local real estate and/or leasing agents to secure accommodations.
- Provide guidance on lease agreements, utility setups, and neighborhood information.
- Coordinate transportation logistics, including airport transfers and local transportation options.
- Offer guidance on public transportation routes, obtaining driver’s licenses, or car rental options.
- Facilitate the application process for government-issued identification cards.
- Ensure international teachers are aware of and comply with local and national identification requirements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for international teachers regarding housing, transportation, and ID card inquiries.
- Coach international teachers to navigate different cultural contexts and different.
- Foster a welcoming environment and provide cultural insights to help teachers integrate into the local community.
- Work closely with Human Capital, the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department and visa agencies to resolve concerns and improve the overall support system for international teachers.
- Serve as a liaison between the district and Visa agencies as needed
