Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of a virtual certified teacher. The educational assistant position is in-person working with a virtual teacher.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Successfully pass a skills assessment test
48 College Hours/Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word documents
Experience:
Preferred experience working with children, in a public education environment
Essential Job Functions:
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual scholars or small groups.
Help supervise scholars throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual scholars.
May perform duties at either elementary or secondary campus.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality.
Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
